Here in Sydney, Australia, we may not have the epic nightlife of Melbourne or the perpetual sunshine of Brisbane. But what we do have is a health and wellness scene that could easily rival LA or NYC’s. Case in point — we’re only halfway through the year and there’s already been more new openings that you can shake a selfie stick (remember those?) at. So, in case you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here are 7 of the best new places to sweat, shop and sip green juices at in Sydney.
Nimbus & Co
With what seems like a gym on every corner, Bondi Beach has no shortage of places to sweat. But for those who want to do it in a more relaxing manner, Nimbus & Co is the new hot spot (literally!) While it looks more like a homewares store thanks to all the chic interiors, Nimbus is Sydney’s first dedicated infrared sauna studio. It’s the perfect place to bliss out, detox your mind and body and hey, maybe even take a cheeky Insta snap or two!

Sweaty Soul
Speaking of sweat, this boutique fitness studio in Edgecliff opened its doors earlier this year. Perfect for fit girls who like to mix up their routines, the studio boasts a huge range of classes — from spin, strength training and HIIT to boxing, yoga and pilates. So, you get the variety of classes you would at a big gym, but in a much smaller, more individualised environment.

Moodi’s Coogee
Bankstown foodies will be familiar with Moodi’s — a fitness-focused cafe opened by the Diet Doctor, Moodi Dennaoui. Health-concious Coogee residents (aka. me) were delighted when they opened their second location in the beach-side suburb earlier this year. What I love about Moodi’s (apart from its Insta-worthy aesthetics) is that it’s not overly healthy. Their menu isn’t just filled with different variations of raw kale salads. Instead, you’ll find healthier spins on comfort food favourites — like their to-die-for protein peanut butter pancakes.

Stretch Studio
Most of us (especially those with desk jobs) should be stretching way more often. Not only can it reduce aches and pains, but it improves your flexibility, mobility and overall gym performance. While yoga is great for this, it can be hard to know how far you can actually push your body. That’s why we’re so excited about Stretch Studio, Australia’s first dedicated stretching studio in Double Bay. In your 1-on-1 session, your trained flexologist (professional stretcher) will give you a controlled stretch that not only feels good as a massage, but will leave you feeling light and limber!

Transform Health
When I first walked past Transform Health in Darlinghurst, I was immediately intrigued. Is it a cafe? A fitness studio? A food delivery service? Turns out, it’s all three! The health and fitness professionals at Transform Health have been in the game for a while, working with models like Bridget Malcolm, Shanina Shaik, Nicole Trunfio, and Karlie Kloss to keep them in tip-top shape. They recently opened up their Sydney HQ, where they serve up wholesome, delicious meals in the Transform Cafe. They also provide PT services and deliver nutritious lunches to your home, work or event across Sydney CBD and surrounding areas.

LiveBreathe Health and Fitness
There’s a surprising lack of small group training studios in the busy suburb of Randwick. Sure, you have your usual suspects like Fitness First and F45. But for those who prefer more personalised strength training, the choices and few and far in between. LiveBreathe Health and Fitness is doing a great job at filling that gap between expensive PT sessions and globogyms. The small gym offers affordable semi-private sessions (where classes have a maximum of six people) as well as slightly larger group training classes. With a timetable of over 70 classes per week, there’s never any excuse not to get your butt to the gym!

First Base, Bondi Junction
It’s no secret that at Amodrn, we love homegrown activewear brand First Base. The only thing we don’t like about it is having to wait for our goodies to arrive in the post! So, when we found out they were opening their very first flagship store at Westfield Bondi Junction, we were psyched! The gorgeous store is a true extension of the brand’s sporty chic aesthetic, with touches like gymnastic rings and boxing bags hanging from the ceiling and ‘locker rooms,’ rather than changerooms.
