5 Killer Exercise Moves That'll Help Burn Stubborn Belly Fat

The festive season is awesome. With so many things on the social calendar, you’re probably feeling like a social butterfly. Eating, drinking and being merry is all fun and games until February rolls around and you’re feeling a little less butterfly and a little more caterpillar. So, if you need to fight off the belly fat this festive season and need some exercise inspo, try these moves to burn fat and work up a sweat:

1. Burpees

Burpees are a killer move for your whole body as they work most major muscle groups, spike your heart rate and test your balance and co-ordination.

2. Jump Lunges

Your legs will hate you but working your quads and your glutes, two of the biggest muscle groups in your body, means that you’ll be working up a sweat and burning some serious calories doing this move. Remember to keep the weight on your front foot as you land and drop the back knee as close as you can to the ground. If this is too high-impact, do traditional alternating lunges.

3. Mountain Climbers

To do a mountain climber, start in a high plank position with your hands positioned directly under your shoulders. Draw your left knee in towards your chest, switch and bring the right knee in towards your chest. Alternate between the two at a fast pace to really elevate that heart rate. Mountain climbers work so many muscles in your body and when you work at a high intensity they really get your heart pumping.

4. Squat Jumps

Squat down, touch the ground with your hands then jump back up and repeat. For a lower-impact variation, just do the bodyweight squat without the jump at the top. These will give you that booty burn and get your heart-pumping.

5. Explosive push-up with a clap

Like a normal push-up but explode up from the ground and clap your hands at the top. As you fatigue, just aim to get your hands off the ground without the clap. If you need to do this exercise from your knees as opposed to your toes.
